Can you leave a love hotel and come back? Re-entry during a rest or overnight stay
Key takeaway
Check your plan, payment, keys and return time before going out. Understand how temporary absence differs from checkout at REFRAIN.

Going out temporarily or checking out?
Tell reception if you intend to keep using the same room.
| Comparison | Temporary absence | Checkout |
|---|---|---|
| Tell reception | Who is leaving, return time and that you want the same room. | That you are ending your room use. |
| Charges | Ask about prepayment/deposit, time away and extensions. | Review and settle all charges. |
| Keys and bags | Ask whether to carry or leave keys; look after valuables. | Collect belongings and return keys as instructed. |
| Returning | Confirm the entrance and reception procedure. | A later visit requires a new availability and price check. |
Procedures differ by hotel and plan. Confirm REFRAIN’s arrangements with reception.
Check the plan you are actually using
Some love hotels allow guests to go out and return. Before a meal or shopping trip, tell reception and check that you can return to the same room. Permission under an overnight plan does not automatically apply to a short-rest plan.
At REFRAIN, speak to reception before leaving
The official FAQ says guests may go out and should inform reception first. Mention your plans at arrival. Confirm payment timing, keys and return arrangements on the day. Permission to go out does not extend your room-use period.
Before you go: payment, keys and return time
Tell reception that you are leaving temporarily and will continue using the same room. Say whether one or both guests are leaving and when you expect to return. Ask about advance payment or a deposit, whether to leave the key, which entrance to use and the final checkout time. Take your phone, wallet and necessary keys.
Do not assume the clock pauses
Ask how time and charges are counted while the room is held. If your plan ends at 5 p.m., allow time to return, pack and settle before then. If delayed, contact reception before the end time and obtain confirmation of availability and charges before relying on an extension.
Tell reception if only one guest leaves
Explain if another guest remains in the room and follow instructions for keys and identification. A new person joining later is different from an existing guest returning and needs separate confirmation. REFRAIN lists a maximum of two people per room.
Allow for the full trip
Permission to go out does not automatically include permission to bring food back. Ask about food and heating facilities. For a concert or meal, include travel, queues and crowds in your return estimate. If you will not use the room again, checkout plus confirmed luggage-storage arrangements may suit you better.
Make your intention clear
You can ask: “We would like to keep this room and go out for dinner for about an hour, returning at 8 p.m. Do we need to pay first? What should we do with the key and how do we get back in?” Keep the hotel’s contact details handy.
Plan the whole visit
REFRAIN is approximately one minute on foot from Ikebukuro Exit C1. Compare your full stay with the rates and room photos, including any time spent out.
Questions about this guide
Can I go out and return to the same room?
Speak to reception before leaving. Confirm whether your plan allows re-entry to the same room and ask about payment, keys and your return time.
Does my booked time pause while I am outside?
Do not assume the clock stops when you leave. Confirm your end time and any additional charges. If you expect to return after that time, speak to reception before going out.
What if I want to stay longer?
Before your end time, ask reception whether an extension is possible and what it costs. The next booking or cleaning schedule may mean an extension is unavailable.
Can the hotel store my luggage?
Luggage storage is available. Ask the hotel in advance about hours before check-in or after checkout, and arrangements for large bags or valuables.
